On June 5, 2003, Artella Jensen Knighton passed away at her home in Orem, UT, at the age of 91.

She was born January 21, 1912, in Groveland, ID, the fifth of eight children in the family of Andrew Christian Jensen, Jr. and Lola Ellener Wilson Jensen. She graduated from high school in Pocatello, ID.

Artella married Charles Morland Knighton in the Logan LDS Temple, November 9, 1934. They had seven children. She also took several other children and youth into her home and raised them as if their own mother, all while caring for her severely disabled daughter, Delores.

A very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she always gave much, expecting little or nothing in return. She excelled in cooking, sewing, and crafts. She constantly sought to make someone happy. For several years, she gave extensive volunteer service to the Utah handicapped children. A faithful member of the LDS Church, she served in many callings, including a stake Primary presidency and a ward Relief Society presidency. With her husband, she served in the Arizona Tempe Mission at the Mesa Temple Visitors Center and in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She had a firm testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and absolute faith in Him.

Artella was truly a great lady! Honored, loved, and respected by all who knew her, she will be remembered always for her warm and friendly style, her gracious and unselfish service, her happy heart and cheerful disposition, and her faithful devotion to her family and the Church. She truly made the world a better place.

She is survived by her husband, Charles, Orem UT; sons: Lennis (Peggy), Pleasant Grove, UT; Ronald (Shirlee), Centerville, UT; daughters: Leola Abston, Salt Lake City, UT; Carolyn (Grigg) Brown, Roy, UT; LaRae (Stephen) Mather, Glendale, AZ; and ReNae (David) Dalton, Heber City, UT; 37 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; brothers: Wendel (Marie) Jensen; Lawrence Jensen, and Eldon (Mary) Jensen; preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Delores; brothers: Leland and Glen; Sisters: Leona Tolman and Opal Conklin.
