"b. near Occupacia, Virginia, Sept. 29, 1840. att. UVA, Sgt. Co. F, 9th Virginia Cavy., June 1861. VADC to Pickett, Feb. 1862. Lt. ADC to Pickett, May 21, 1862. Capt. ADC, June 2, 1863. Occasionally acted as AAAG to Pickett in 1863-1864. Appx. Farmer and supt. of Essex Co. schools. d. at "Epping Forest", Essex Co., Sept. 22, 1831. bur. there. Baird's war letters are at Wm. & Mary, and his memoir of Gettysburg is at the Museum of the Conderacy in Richmond."
