BELLVILLE: SYLVIA COFFEY ROBERTS, age 96, of State Route 97, Bellville, died Wednesday morning March 14, 2001 in The Laurels of Mt. Vernon.

She was born September 16, 1904 in Lee County, Kentucky to Thomas and Alice Rose Goosey, and moved to the Bellville area 25 years ago from Seattle, Washington.

A homemaker, Sylvia was a member of Clear Fork Alliance Church and the Monday Morning Bible Study at the Clear Fork Mobile Home Park. She was a member of the Bellville Coffee Cup Club, the Fun-n-Friendship Club, inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1990, and a lifetime member of the DAV. A doll maker and collector, she began dressing dolls during WWII. An avid gardener, Sylvia enjoyed sewing, quilting, rug hooking, painting, reading, fishing and camping.

Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law Anna & Raymond Jones of Bellville, Lonna Wilson of Portsmouth, Virginia, and Leota Dorst of Ft. Myers, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law Gobel & Carrie Coffey of Mathew, North Carolina; two step-sons and their wives Kenneth & Betty Roberts of Lexington and Richard & Esther Roberts of Bellville; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands Thomas Coffey on April 26, 1977; and Stewart E. Roberts on January 7, 1983; a son Wayne Coffey; a step-son Norman Roberts; a step-daughter Ruth Meredith; and 9 brothers and sisters.

Friends may call Friday March 16, 2001 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Clear Fork Alliance Church, with The Rev. Dr. Michael V. Stine officiating. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
