Eileen (Hatterman) Dicken was born in Big Springs, Nebraska to Christopher and Effie (Stewart) Hatterman, one of eight children. She grew up on the farm and worked hard alongside her parents, helping with the younger children and daily chores. Her parents also relied on her a lot, because she could speak and write English. She attended a one room school house. Mrs. Dicken had a hard life living through The Great Depression years, the Dust Bowl in the 1930?s and WWII. In October 1932 she married Otto Dicken. They divorced in early 1950s. She was a quiet lady who enjoyed flowers, sewing and embroidering.

Mrs. Dicken died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Fairacres Manor in Greeley.

Survivors: Her daughters, Evelene Pickernell of Greeley, Sharalyn Anderson of California; sons, Irvin Dickens and wife Phyllis of University Place, WA , Ronald Dicken of Big Springs, NE; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
