The following was copied from his Bible by John Earl Isbell: "Charley Thompson Isbell Licensed to preach the gospel in February 1898 signed by: Rev. W. I. Brasher Sand Ridge Baptist Church."
"Ordained at Dunnavant on August 23, 1900. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Signed by: Rev. W. C. McLaughlin, Rev. C. G. Isbell. Deacons: W. C. Fulmer, W. H. Perin, E. W. Duckett, G. W. Isbell, T. B. Lee and E. R. Isbell." The G. W. Isbell was his father, George Washington. E. R. Isbell was Ezekiel R. who was a first cousin. Charley Thompson, his brother Obe, and their wives started the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
The minutes of the Second Annual Meeting of the Central Landmark Missionary Baptist Association for 1910 indicate that C. T. Isbell took an active part as one of the three delegates from Pleasant Ridge. The churches represented were Pleasant Site, Pleasant Ridge, Dunnavant, and Sand Ridge. The meeting was held in Dunnavant. In 1913 they met again in Dunnavant, but the fourth church was Clear Springs instead of Sand Ridge. Rev. C. T. Isbell was elected Moderator of the meeting.
