GALESBURG -- Lowell Eugene Whitney, 55, of 473 E. Third St. died at 12:45 a.m. Monday, May 9, 1994, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. He was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Abingdon to Joseph F. and Ruth A. Nelson Whitney. Surviving are his mother, Ruth Ann Eddy of Galesburg; two daughters, Shelly and Rhonda; one brother, Bill of Abingdon; and four sisters, Donna Oleskie of Galesburg, Shirley Whitney of Overland Park, Kan., Margie McIntire of Aledo and Maralene Baughman of Brimfield. He was a crew caller for the Santa Fe Railroad for eight years. He served in the military police in the Air Force in Arizona. He was a member of Abingdon Congregational Church. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Abingdon Cemetery in Abingdon. The Rev. Raymond McLaren will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
