Sarah "Sallie" (Roup) (Hinshaw) Page was the daughter of John Roup who was a native of North Carolina, and Isabel Davis who was born in Tennessee.*

Sarah was probably born in Tennessee as this is her birth location according to the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1900 census records, and according to her Missouri Death Certificate. In the 1880 census she is shown as born in Indiana, and in the 1910 shown as born in Kentucky, but these are believed to be wrong. Sarah's family moved from Tennessee to Indiana, and finally to Missouri. They went from Tennessee to Indiana between 1840 and 1842, according to the births of the children. They were in Missouri by 1850.

1850 Census of Van Buren, Jackson County, Missouri:

John Roup 36, blacksmith, born South Carolina
Isabel Roup 28, born Tennessee
Thomas Roup 14, born Tennessee
Sarah Roup 12, born Tennessee
Martin Roup 10, born Tennessee
Mary Roup 8, born Indiana
Elizabeth Roup 6, born Indiana
Jane Roup 4 (birthplace unreadable)
Missouri Roup 2, born Missouri

Sarah first married Jesse Hinshaw on January 13, 1956 in Jackson County, Missouri. According to family trees on Ancestry.com, they had 5 children:

Martha Ann Hinshaw 1857-
Mary Green Hinshaw 1860-1936
John T. Hinshaw 1862-
Sarah J. Hinshaw 1865-
Elizabeth Florence Hinshaw 1867-

1860 Census of Big Creek, Cass County, Missouri, Post Office, Pleasant Hill:

J. Hinshaw 25, farmer, born North Carolina
Sarah Hinshaw 23, born Tennessee
M. Ann Hinshaw 3, born Missouri
Mary Green Hinshaw 1 month, born Missouri

1870 Census of the same Polk, Cass County, Missouri, Post Office, Pleasant Hill:

Jessie Hinshaw 35, farmer
Sarah Hinshaw 33
Martha A. Hinshaw 13
Mary G. Hinshaw 10
John T. Hinshaw 8
Sarah J. Hinshaw 5
Elizabeth F. [Florence] Hinshaw 3

Jesse Hinshaw died in about 1873. Sarah then married John Page sometime between 1873 and 1880.

1880 Census of Polk, Cass County, Missouri:

John Page 45, farmer, born England
Sarah Page 43, wife
Barton Page 4, son
Reed W. Page 6 months
Florence E. Hinshaw 18 (should be 13; Sarah's daughter)
Walker Oldham 24 (farm hand)

Barton/Bert and Reed Page in this census appear to be the children of John and Sarah Page. However, in the 1900 census, it states that Sarah has given birth to only 5 children, and this would be her 5 children by Jesse Hinshaw. Barton and Reed Page may have been John Page's sons by a previous marriage, but this information has not yet been verified.

1900 census of Slater, Saline County, Missouri:

Bert E. Page 23, blacksmith
Sarah Page age 61, mother (5 children; 5 living)
Reed Page 19, brother, blacksmith
John Henshaw 16, nephew

1910 census of same location, Sarah 73 is living with son Reed H. Page 29, blacksmith, and his wife Erma 29.

*The parents' names were obtained from Jan Hinshaw because the information is unclear on Sarah's death certificate.
