Calista DeVoss
Estherville – Funeral services for A. [Ada] Calista DeVoss, 81, Estherville, will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Henry Funeral Chapel, Estherville, with the Rev. Neal Armstrong of the Gruver Presbyterian Church officiating and burial at the East Side Cemetery. She died Jan. 26 at Holy Family Hospital.
Mrs. DeVoss was born July 23, 1894 at Yale to John and Elizabeth Todd Johnson and attended Panora High School. She was married to Jesse F. DeVoss Oct. 8, 1913 at Yale. After their marriage, they moved to Ocheyedan and in 1937 moved to a farm east of Estherville. They retired in 1959 and moved into town. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Gruver, Royal Neighbors of Gruver, Senior Citizens and the church circle.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Gladys M. Nelson, Estherville; two sons, James DeVoss, State College, Penn,; and Delmar DeVoss, Pocatello, Idaho; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Frank Johnson, Bagley; and two sisters, a twin sister, Ida Healy, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mary Tuffin, Casey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister and one grandchild.
