He leaves to mourn his loss his faithful wife, five children, thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends. This is the first break in the family in nearly fifty-seven years of wedded life. Neither his own family nor his own children nor his children’s children having suffered the loss of a single member.

Mr. Blue was a veteran of the Civil war, having enlisted in Company F, 26th Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry, Aug. 10, 1861. He fought in several of the most decisive battles of that great struggle. While in the army he contracted measles and from exposure while performing his duties as soldier complications followed from which he never fully recovered. After the war and when Mr. and Mrs. Blue were married they located near Homer, Champaign county, Illinois, where they lived until 1873 when they came to Kansas, taking a homestead ten miles north of Solomon, Kansas. Later they moved to the present home. Mr. Blue was converted Dec. 28, 1875.

The end was very peaceful and he died trusting in the blessed Saviour, who said: “Come unto me all ye that are weary and heavy lade and I will give you rest.”
