MRS. JACOB SCHADEL
Cordelia Mortise Schadel was born June 10, 1858 in the state of Kentucky; she passed away May 11, 1928, 2:45 p.m. at her home, being 69 years, 11 months and 1 day old.
Her mother died at her birth and her father died when she was 5 years old. She had one brother older than she, from whom she was separated in early youth and she never learned of his whereabouts. She was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Clemens, at Girard, Kansas.
She united with the Methodist Church in early life.
October 25, 1882, she was married to Jacob Schadel at Girard, Kansas, and remained his faithful companion until his recent demise. To this union was born 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls, all of whom survive her.
She, with her husband, came to Ness Co., Kansas in 1885, settled on a homestead and have lived in the immediate neighborhood ever since. In Dec. 1902, she united with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and lived a consistent and honored member always. She leaves to mourn, 4 sons, George, Frank, Ray, and Levi; 3 daughters, Mrs. Maggie Pfenninger of Scott City, Mrs. Ruby Jones, and Mrs. Edith Neumeyer, and 7 grandchildren of Alexander and a host of friends.
