Wanda "Joy" Akers Meinke, age 45, Laundry St. Tallapoosa, Ga., passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2006. She was born July 13, 1960 in Carroll County, GA., to Cleo Marks Akers and the late Amos Nathan Akers, Jr. Mrs. Meinke was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include her mother, Cleo Marks Akers; her children, Alison and Kevin Quattlebaum of Bremen, Emily McIntosh and Philip McIntosh both of Carrollton; a sister, Judy Hayes of Carrollton and a brother, Dennis Akers of Williamsburg, VA.; two nieces, Beth Hayes and Susan Akers-Smith; five nephews, Chris Akers, Nicholas Hayes, Timothy, David and John Akers; also two grandchildren, Cameron Quattlebaum and Aliyah Bass. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 10, 2006 at 2 PM., from Martin &Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Terry Wofford and Rev. Larry Scott officiating. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Hayes, Joe Lyner, Josh Sambuco, Jeremy Talbot, Robbie Bass, and Chris Akers. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, April 9, 2006 from 5 until 9 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joy Meinke Fund c/o Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel PO Box 215 Carrollton, Ga. 30112.
