Donald R. Ropp, age 73, of West Des Moines, IA, passed away February 8, 2003 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA. He was born in Sandwich, IL and has also lived in Marion, IA and Aurora, IL before moving to West Des Moines in 1987. Before his retirement he was self-employed in the insurance field. He was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and was inducted into the Amateur Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 1972. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed family activities and spending time with friends.
    He is survived by three sons, Richard Ropp of Kansas City, MO, Stephen Ropp of Kansas City, MO, Douglas Ropp of Cedar Rapids, IA, one daughter, Susan Ingram of Overland Park, KS, eight grandchildren and three sisters, Dorothy Davis of Plano, IL, Peg Wright of Marseilles, IL and Ruth King of Sandwich, IL.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Colette Ropp.
    Visitation will take place 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2003 with a 7 p.m. Wake Service at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd., Clive, IA 50325. Service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Des Moines, IA. For information call 515-277-8700.
