Final rites for Mrs. Ferdinand Meckel, nee Mary Therese Schandua, were held in the Schaetter Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. and in St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 1947.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. F. X. Wolf officiated in the last rites. The Rev. Fr. Thos. Coleman delivered the sermon at the rites. St. Mary's High School Choir sang the responses at the Requiem High Mass, and St. Mary's Church mixed choir sand "Wie Sie So Sanft Ruhn" at the close of the services in Church. Mrs. Meckel for over 50 years was a member of St. Mary's Church mixed choir.
Interment was made in the Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Meckel succumbed in her residence here on Sunday, March 30, at 12:15 a.m.
She had attained the ae of 75 years, 3 months, and 13 days at the time of her death.
Mrs. Meckel was born in Fredericksburg on December 17, 1871, the daughter of Peter and Margaretha Zenner Schandua. She was united in marriage with Ferdinand Meckel on October 16, 1894. Her husband preceded her in death on October 15, 1919.
Survivors include three daughters, Edna, Mrs. David Aut, St. Louis, Mo.; Cora, Mrs. Eric Wagner and Elizabeth, Mrs. Felix Stehling. Also surviving are three sisters, Susanna, Mrs. Ad. Meckel; Anna, Mrs. Ed. Knopp; Rosa, Mrs. I. G. Wehmeyer; one brother, Emil Schandua, fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Erna, Mrs. Louis Weinheimer, and Ida, Mrs. Felix Stehling; two sisters, Clara, Mrs. Ed. Peter and Lina, Mrs. Felix Walch, and one brother, Heinrich Schandua.
