Dixie was born Dixie Hagen Waters in Hartsburg MO to William Marshall Waters and Sara Elizabeth Madden. She had two sisters, Annie and Laura. Annie moved away but Dixie and Laura stayed closely in touch. Dixie married Irvin Springer who died in a warehouse fire in the 1940's. They had three sons, Earl, Claude and Marvin. They had a daughter Sidonia Delores who was my wife's mother. After a divorce from Irvin, Dixie married Oscar Anderson about 1919 but there were never any children by this union. In her late years Dixie lived alone in an apartment near 6th and Tauromee KCK. She died in a nursing home in Lawrence KS. Her headstone reads 1886 as her birth year but most records indicate 1887.
