Vera Frances Morris, 96, Topeka, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, in Topeka.
Mrs. Morris taught elementary school in Junction City for 20 years. She earlier had taught at the Abilla Country School in Coldwater and at Coldwater Elementary School.
She was born Nov. 3, 1904, in Indian Territory in Frye, Okla., the daughter of William Earl and Asenith F. Sawyer Anderson. She earned a master's degree in teaching at Emporia State University. She moved to Topeka three years ago.
Mrs. Morris was a member of First United Methodist Church, Ruth Rebekah Lodge No. 82, Delta Kappa Gamma, Reading Club, Geary County Democrats, Senior Citizens Trubidore, Silver Haired Legislature and the Geary County Historical Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances Sanford and Helen Asay, both of Topeka; a son, Clay Morris, Eastland, Texas; a sister, Gertrude Peyton, Norwich; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
