He was the son of John A Garvin and Albenia T Culp Garvin. He married Corrie Lee McKinstry on December 26, 1895 in Fayette Co, TN. He was a retired Lawton merchant. They moved to Lawton OK from Summerville TN in 1908. On their arrival in Lawton, they engaged in the millinery and mercantile business. The business was continued for 20 years. Mr Garvin was an elder in the Central Presbyterian Church as early as 1909. He was active in the church when it merged in 1913 with the Beal Heights church.
