Melrose Christian Loague, 94, surrounded by her family, peacefully passed away from this life at Darlington Oaks Hospice in Verona, Dec. 21, 2009.

She was born Aug. 3, 1915, to her parents, Samuel Marshall "Bud" Christian and Myrtie Moore Christian of Peppertown.

On March 20, 1937, she married Theron Odell Loague and they raised four children.

Cooking, gardening and sewing were her favorite pastimes. She was a member of the Friendship Homemakers Club for over 50 years, winning numerous awards, including State Garden Leader Record twice. She was a 4-H leader for over 20 years, attending state and regional conferences and being recognized as an outstanding leader.

The most important thing in her life was taking care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church in Fulton.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 23, at Senter Funeral Home in Fulton with Bro. Jackie Gray and the Rev. Martin Jameson officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Peppertown.

She is survived by two sons, Billy Loague (Le-Dell) and David Loague (Tammy) of Fulton; one daughter, Nancy Comer (Rickie) of Fulton; one daughter-in-law, Sue Loague Gillentine (Gerald) of Red Bay, Ala.; 11 grandchildren, Missaha Larabee of Tupelo, Staff Sgt. E-6 Samuel Christopher Loague (LaTisha) of Landstuhl, Germany, Larry Loague (Ginger) of Fulton, Patrick Comer (Alisha) of Tupelo, Stephen Loague of Florence, Ala., Bryan Loague (Holly), Dave Loague of Fulton, Jared Comer (Kayla) of Mantachie, Carra Youree (Ben) of Dyersburg, Tenn., Kristin Adams (C.J.) of Pearl and Kelby Comer of Fulton; 13 great-grandchildren, Marcia Larabee of Amory, Marcus Larabee of Tupelo, Rodney Loague of Fulton, Nataly Loague of Fulton, Kaley Beth Loague of Fulton, Mary Kathryn Rose Larabee of Tupelo, Gavin Loague of Red Bay, Ala., Alex Loague of Landstuhl, Germany, Wesleigh Loague of Fulton, Anna Grace Comer of Tupelo, Austin Samuel Loague of Landstuhl, Germany, Abigail Loague and Wyatt Loague of Florence, Ala.; and two great-great-grandchildren, Brayden James Larabee of New Albany and Marli Kate Larabee of Fulton. She has four surviving sisters, Arlene Enright of Dorsey, Varnell Hale of Tupelo, Mildred Rock of Mooreville and Virginia Wayne Miller of Mooreville; and one sister-in-law, Juanita Christian of Amory.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years in 1997; one son, Samuel Ralph Loague in 1977; five brothers, Clyde Christian, Clayburn Christian, Creston Christian, Clarence Christian and Samuel Marshall "Buddy" Christian; and three sisters, Luna Donald, Martha Smith and Flora Mae Rummner.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
