Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Cheatham, 80, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday at 1508 Morton Avenue, where she lived. She was a native of Anderson County, Kentucky, and for 38 years a member of Highland Baptist Church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. W.K. Bennett, Mobile, Ala., and Mrs. J.R. Sampey, Jr., Greenville, S.C.; two sons, W.A. Cheatham, Washington, D.C., and Dwight Cheatham; 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McAfee Funeral Home, 3928 Bardstown Road. Burial will be in Highview Cemetery, Chaplin, Ky. (Published in The Louisville Courier-Journal, Sunday, May 1, 1960)
