Funeral services were held at the Strate Funeral Home on Saturday for Mary Gladys Abbott of Harrington with the Rev. Roger V. Muisiner, temporary supply pastor of the Harrington United Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Abbott was born on Oct. 14, 1918 in Ekalaka MT and passed away in Davenport on Feb 1, 1984 at the age of 65 years. She attended school in Ekalaka as a girl, after which the family moved to Reardan, WA. She was married to Jim Abbott in Ritzville, WA in 1945 and had made their home in Harrington since that time. Mrs Abbott was skilled in crochet work and had won many prizes at the County and State Fairs. She was also involved in Lapidary work. She had been an active member of the old Mohler Grange, which was later consolidated with the Bluestem Grange. She had attended the Harrington United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death was one son, Elmo Abbott, as well as her parents. Survivors include her husband Jim Abbott of Harrington; 2 sisters, Margaret Landes of Seattle and Florine Burkhart of Iowa; two brothers: Byron Shultz of Newport, WA and William Shults of Spokane WA. Following cremation, interment will occur in the family plot at the Reardan Cemetery.
