Kenneth Thompson, 86, of Macon, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2005, at his home.
He was born on February 28, 1919, in Macon, the son of Guthrie and Lula Leath Thompson. He was united in marriage to Rosie Swanson on March 30, 1943, in Reno, NV.
Survivors are his wife, Rosie, of Macon; one son, Kenny Jr. Thompson and his wife, Connie, of Macon; and one daughter, Nancy Piringer and her husband, Bruce, of Columbia; two grandchildren, Jason Thompson and his wife, Kelli, of Kansas City, and Janae Thompson of Macon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother; and one infant sister.
Mr. Thompson was a Radioman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in the South Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion Post #29 in Macon, and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. Mr. Thompson enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his garden.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Macon. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at the funeral home in Macon with Rev. Kelly Perry officiating. Burial, with full military honors, were held in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Atlanta.
The family suggested memorials to the Home Care of Mid-Missouri Hospice, which may be left at the funeral home.
