Howard Scott Rhodes, 61, of Edna was buried Saturday, October 19, 1974, in the North Edna Cemetery near Edna. The funeral service was conducted at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at the Edna United Methodist Church.

Rev. Olin Hamlin officiated at the funeral and burial.

Mr. Rhodes died Wednesday afternoon, October 16 at the Coffeyville Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since the 2nd of September. He had been in declining health for the past two years.

He was born on February 27, 1913, near Edna, the son of Harry and Ethel Rhodes. Reared to manhood in that vicinity, he attended the Edna public schools.

On April 10, 1932, he and Geneva B. Sands were united in marriage at Independence.

Memberships by Mr. Rhodes was held in the United Brethren Church and the Hawkins Grange in the Edna area.

Survivors are the widow of the home, south of Edna, and two daughters, Mrs. John (Jeanette) Wegele, Alma, and Miss Sharon J. Rhodes of the home; two sons, Ronald H. Rhodes and Steven E. Rhodes, both of Edna; a sister, Mrs. Glenna Podriznik, Renton, Washington; three brothers, Hubert Rhodes and Joseph Rhodes, both of Edna, and Jack Rhodes of Chanute; and four grandchildren.

The Bates Funeral Home of Edna was in charge of all arrangements.
