Mr. Ronald Reed Dunn, age 87 of Franklin, died Wednesday, September 14th, peacefully at his home. A native of Simpson County, KY, he was the youngest of seven children of the late James Elijah and Mary Edna Witt Dunn. He was co-owner, with his brother Bill, of Dunn Bros. Radio in Franklin for 48 years. He served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Royal Ambassadors Leader and on numerous committees at the Franklin First Baptist Church. He also coordinated the audio-visual ministry at the church for many years. He served on the Kentucky Baptist Board of Child Care (now Sunrise Children's Services) for 10 years. He served as President of the Franklin Simpson Band Boosters for several years and taped and/or filmed every performance of the Franklin Simpson Band for at least 9 years. He was a World War II Veteran having served as a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps establishing and maintaining Gen. Douglas MacArthur's communication headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Survivors include his wife of 64 years – Elizabeth Grainger Dunn of Franklin; daughter – Mary Beth Dunn of Louisville; son – Ronald Reed Dunn, Jr. and wife Brenda Dunn; granddaughter Kelly Dunn; grandson Keith Dunn and wife Lori Dunn; and great grandson Colton Dunn all of Castilian Springs, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday at 2pm at Franklin First Baptist Church with Bro. J.V. Case and Bro. Jerry Gifford officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard.
