DEATH OF DAVID F. REDDING
At 5:30 Wednesday morning, David F. Redding, one of the well-known old residents of Belle Fourche, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Ernest Harber, in the west part of town. About a week ago Mr Redding was taken ill with a severe cold, which rapidly developed into pneumonia, causing his sudden demise.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 this (Thursday) afternoon from the residence of Mr and Mrs Harber, services being conducted by Rev. Lauriston
Reynolds, and the remains will be laid to rest in Pine Slope cemetery, by the side of the deceased's wife, who passed away last June.
Mr Redding was one of those genial whole-souled gentlemen, of an extraordinary cheery disposition, and always had a kind word and friendly greeting for his many friends. He was very industrious and never seemed satisfied unless working at something, and his sudden demise will be sincerely regretted by hundreds of people in this city and elsewhere in the Black Hills.
David Redding was born near Burlington, IA, June 7 1848. and when about twenty years of age moved to Putnam County, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Dorsett in 1868. In 1882 the family came to the Black Hills, locating on a ranch in Lawrence County, where they remained until about 1890, when they removed to the Bear Lodge country in Crook County, Wyoming. Five years ago the family moved to Belle Fourche, where they had since made their home.
The deceased is survived by eight children, as follows:
Roy Redding, San Leon, Texas, George Redding, Harvey L. Redding, Mrs Flora Harber, Mrs Rosa Justice, Belle Fourche, Mrs E. G. Barnett (should be Barrett), Emmett Redding, Mona, Wyoming, Victor T. Redding, Boyes, Montana. He is also survived by a brother, Henry Redding. and one sister, Mrs Meadows, who also resides in Missouri."
