Donald Leroy Kelderman, 75, of Doon, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the VA Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. Burial 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hillside Cemetery in Doon. Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids with Rev. Clifford Hoekstra officiating. Visitation will be Friday with the family present 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley, IA. Condolences may be sent online to www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Donald Leroy Kelderman was born August 27, 1936 on a farm near Hull, Iowa, the son of Henry and Tena (Drost) Kelderman. As a child he moved with his family to a farm north of Doon, later into the town of Doon. He attended Doon Christian School through eighth grade.
He married Elaine Boer on July 17, 1963. Together they raised their family in Doon. Don was proud to have served his country in the US Navy. He was employed at Lems Auto Recyclers and Sioux Preme Packing Co. until retiring in 2003.

Don was a member of the Rock Rapids Christian Reformed Church. He found much enjoyment in family gatherings at campgrounds, lakes, or at home. He also enjoyed maintaining his lawn, collecting die-cast replicas of cars, trucks, and tractors and following his children's and grandchildren's activities.

Don is lovingly remembered by his wife, Elaine; five children, Heidi (John) Frey of Fulton, South Dakota and their children, Abby, Jacob, and Micah; Holli (Bill) Dryfhout of Doon and their children, Bryce, Dylan, and Kendra; Darren (Kandi) Kelderman of Wadena, Minnesota and their children, Zack, Tate, and Sam; Justin (Anji) Kelderman of Urbandale, Iowa and their children, Tyson, Peyton, Lindsey, and Cade; and Jodi (Russ) Mogensen of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa and their children, Tyler and Madelyn; three sisters, Jeanette (Garrett) Lems of Doon, Priscilla Spykerboer of Ellsworth, Minnesota, and Wilmanette Spykerboer of Rock Rapids, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Grace Kelderman of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Audrey Kelderman of Rock Valley, Iowa

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his five brothers, Albert, Henry, Lawrie, Alvin, and Walter Henry in infancy; and four sisters, Wilma Flynn, Dorothy Stellinga, Caroline Shutter, and Tena Gorter.
