Vera Elizabeth Miller, 91, of Chesapeake, Va., formerly of Roanoke, passed away Friday, May 6, 2005 in Chesapeake. She was the daughter of William Morris Hagood and Nettie J. (Koger) Hagood of Stuart, in Patrick County, Va. and was a member of Patterson Memorial Brethren Church. Vera was a lover and protector of children and small animals. Even though she and Uncle Eddie never had children, yet she was a mother to all children. She will be remembered for her talking birds and her tender touch and soft voice. She will be further remembered for her zest of life and her ability to communicate with all of God's creatures. Vera spoke frequently of her love of dance and now she dances at the gates of Heaven. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin H. Miller in 1972; and sisters, Lena Hagood Ramsey Cronise and Una Hagood Jacobs. Surviving are her nephew, Marvin Jacobs; and niece, Norma Lee Cabiness. Also surviving are great-nephews, Bob and Joseph Rowe, Jon Winslow, Ron and Leslie Finley; and her great-niece, Therese Stafford. A graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. Va.
