Caroline Dorothy Aulerich was born March 26, 1844 at Merckendorf (should be Menkendorf), Germany. In 1866 she emigrated to America and was united in marriage to Henry Drahn May 28th the same year at Garnavillo. They were blessed with eight children, three sons, five daughters. The oldest child, a daughter, passed away at the tender age of five. They lived for a few years at Cedar Creek then moved to their farm in Farmersburg twp. After 37 years of farming they retired and moved to their home in Froelich where they lived ten years. 1913 they came to Monona and the following year the deceased was stricken with paralysis from which she partially recovered. Tho still a helpless invalid she was able to enjoy the celebration of their golden wedding May 28, 1916. On Monday the 16th of April she suffered another attack of paralysis which proved to be fatal and after an illness of four and a half days she quietly passed away. Her life was one of untiring devotion to her family, ever patient even thru her long years of invalidism. May she rest in Peace.
