Funeral rites for Richard Bartrum Goatcher, 25, of 1109 Lee St., were conducted Wednesday, March 18, at the First Congregational Church. The Rev. Ben Smith officiated and burial was in the Paul J. Wataha Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers were Kyle Rawlings, Eric Botkin, Bill and Bob Hower, Wally Wallbridge and Randy Foster. Honorary pallbearers were Mark and Richard Hower, and John and Hollis Atwood.

Mr. Goatcher died Saturday, March 14, after the oil tanker he was driving failed to negotiate a curve on the Brady Deep Unit Road 10 miles from Highway 430.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1956 at Alliance, Ohio. He resided in Rock Springs most of his life and attended school in Rock Springs and was a member of the First Congregational Church.

He is survived by his parents, Isaac and Patricia Ann Hower Brooks of Rock Springs; one brother, Isaac Newton Brooks; four sisters, Elizabeth, Cathy, Jennie and Saima Brooks, all of Rock Springs; his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Hower of Rock Springs; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
