Amelia was a twin sister to Anna Louise Alfrieda Milhan (now Mrs. Carl Kleim). She also has a brother, Art Milhan and another sister, Caroline (Mrs. August Patri).
Amelia was married to Matthew Hale Deford by the Justice of the Peace on June 30, 1905 at the Arlington Hotel, Cresco, Iowa.
Services were conducted by Rev. Smith on December 18, 1909. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery south of Riceville. Amelia has an unmarked grave on the Fred Arndt burial lot.
