Jerry James Cosper, of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. He was 75. Mr. Cosper was born on June 12, 1936, in Georgia, to the late James Ezra and Ila Ward Cosper. Jerry was a life long resident of Bowdon. He worked as a shipping clerk at Textile Rubber Company in Bowdon until his accident in 1957. After the accident, he spent four months of rehabilitation in Warm Springs, Georgia. He won the Alumnus award at Georgia Warm Springs Foundation for inspiring adjustment to physical handicap, which was a source of pride for him. He attended North Georgia Trade School for two years and received instruction on watch making. After becoming certified as a watch maker, He and his wife Barbara, opened Cosper's Jewelry in 1960, which they owned and operated for thirty- seven years. He loved his friends, family, and customers very much, and enjoyed serving them on a day-to-day basis.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cosper was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Ruby Hicks. Survivors include his wife, best friend and the love of his life, Barbara Cosper, three brothers and sisters-in-law, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, a niece, and a host of friends, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service conducted on September 16 at Corinth Baptist Church, Bowdon, GA with Rev. Gary Stewart and Rev. Ed Grooms officiating. Music provided by Buddy Gentry. Pallbearers are Nic Brown, Josh Brown Jeffry Brown, Bo Gravitt, Greg Prestridge, and Donnie Truett. Interment in the church cemetery with Bro. Ken Bowman conducting the committal service. Rainwater Funeral Home, Bowdon, GA in charge of arrangements.
