LAFAYETTE – Mass services will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 419 Doucet Rd. in Lafayette for Louis A. "Dave" Davis, Jr., 87, who passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at his home in Lafayette.
Entombment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
Reverend Father Harold Trahan will officiate.
Louis was born December 1, 1923 in New Orleans. He graduated from St. Aloyius Catholic High School in 1942 and attended Loyola University, where he studied music and accounting. He was a lifetime lover of music and played the trumpet in the Loyola University and the U. S. Army marching bands. Louis was a WWII veteran and was the co-owner of Mark Industries. He retired in 1994 after 32 years in business. Louis was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Louis is survived by his beloved seven children, Alan Davis and his wife, Cathy of Moorehead, MN, James Davis, John Davis and Robert Davis and his girlfriend, Jenny Girouard, all of Lafayette, Elizabeth Davis of New Orleans, Patricia D. Hebert and her husband, David of Breaux Bridge and Russell Davis and his wife, Tess of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren, Robert Lee Davis, Sara D. Johnson and husband, Ryan, Summer D. DeVille and husband, Larry, Krista D. Campbell and husband, Kevin, Dillon Davis, Wesley Davis and girlfriend, Maegan Smith, Joshua Davis and wife, Ariel and Tyler Davis; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Rose Prima Davis; his parents Louis and Lottie Bonnecaze Davis; and his brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Mary Ellen Davis.
Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Thursday evening, September 15, 2011 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
A rosary will be recited in the Fountain Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday evening, September 15, 2011 at 7 p.m.
The family expresses special thanks to John, Patti, Beth, Robbie and Tess for their continuous care and support. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, especially Carolyn and Jenny and Med Source Home Health, especially Joan and Lou Anna.
