John Bible Phillips, 84, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011, in a local hospital.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, TN, he served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Phillips; son, Johnny (Beth) Phillips; granddaughter, Brooke (Andy) Moore; and great-granddaughter, Isabella Moore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie Phillips; and sister, Martha Lou Phillips.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Bert Jones officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McKamey Animal Shelter, 4500 N. Access Road, Chattanooga, TN 37415 or a favorite charity.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
