Mrs. Harvey M. Ballard, of Rialto, whose husband was killed by a hit-and-run automobile in San Bernardino Saturday night, was reported only slightly improved at the county hospital last night, where she was being treated for injuries incurred in the mishap. An inquest is pending into the death of .Ballard. Edward Benavidez, 22, of Ely, Nev., who admitted he was driving the car that struck the couple, was being held in the county jail.
