Sarah was the first wife of Absalom Martin Ball. They were married in Greene County, Alabama on 24 December 1846. It is possible she was the daughter of William Wright Smith and Sarah (Sally) Hitt.

She moved with her husband and children to Texas in 1850 and settled in Brazos County. She died there at the age of 31 years.

Note.... Sally and her husband, Absalom Ball had the following daughter whose burial location has not been located:

Alice Lavenia Ball. Born 13 Sept. 1849 in Alabama. Married Louis Thomas Robertson 11 March 1869 in Colorado County, Texas. While pregnant, the family left Brazos County and were in Bosque County when Alice Lavenia died in 1879. She is buried there with her infant in an unknown grave/cemetery.
