Alfred E. "Smith" Tackett, age 81, of Estesburg Road in Estesburg, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

Born December 26, 1929, in Pulaski County, Smith was a son of the late Dewey & Lula Justice Tackett. He had been a lifelong farmer, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Rose Of Sharon Old Regular Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Thressia Hargis Tackett; a daughter , Bonnie (Ronald) Sparks of Eubank; a son, Jonathon Lennon of Columbus, Ohio; one granddaughter, Casey Renee Sparks of Eubank; two brothers, Barkley (Maxine) Tackett of Winchester, and Glenn (Nell) Tackett of Hazard; five sisters, Evelyn Owens of Brandon, Florida, Norma (Arnold) Whittaker of New Albany, Indiana, Carma Payne of Cincinnati, Ohio, Wanda (Vernice) Eldridge of Shepherdsville, and Arlene Ward of Somerset.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall & Stanley, and a sister Civilene Hendrickson.

Funeral services for Mr. Tackett will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home with Mr. Murl Caudill officiating.

Burial will follow in Clear Fork Cemetery in Waynesburg.
