Mary Elizabeth Wheeler, 78, Canton, Mo., died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at her home in Canton. Born March 2, 1925, at Lewistown, Mo., a daughter of Ernest and Crystal Hamilton Tuley. She married J. C. Wheeler February 16, 1946, at St. Patrick, Mo. Mrs. Wheeler was a homemaker and she and her husband farmed for many years in Lewis County. She was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church, D of I, Lewis County Nursing Home Auxiliary and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, at Canton. Survivors include her husband, J. C., Canton; three daughters, Shelly Shuman and husband, Mark, Canton, Janet Thomas and husband, Mike, Quincy, and Linda Wheeler, Upland, Calif.; one granddaughter, Katie Shuman, Canton; two brothers, Elmo Tuley and wife, Vivian, Lewistown, and Ernest D. Tuley and wife, Martha, Quincy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation and a prayer service were held Tuesday, June 24, at Davis Funeral Home, Canton. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 25, at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Patrick, Mo., with Rev. James Wheeler and Rev. David Cox officiating. Interment will be at the Shrine of St. Patrick Cemetery. Music was provided by Ellen Krueger, organist; and Jason Richmond, vocalist.
