Almira Baird was born near Monroe, Wis., Sept. 27, 1851, and died Jan 22, 1912, aged 60 years, 3 months and 25 days.
She was married March 30, 1873, to Henry L. Bunker. They made their home near Winslow for eighteen years, then they moved to their home six miles west of Lena, where, with the exception of four years spent in Warren, they have since resided.
Her illness was of long duration, and her suffering for the last six months was intense, yet, she patiently bore it all. She was a christian from her girlhood days and up to the time of her death was a member of the M.E. church at Warren; and when she realized that she must go she gave her assurance of her faith in Him who would carry her over the river safely.
To Mr. and Mrs. Bunker were born seven children. Two of these preceded the mother to the unseen world, Bessie dying in infancy, and Mrs. Cora Rayborn who died eight years ago. The children who remain to mourn her loss are: Frank W., of Chelsea, Ill.; Chas. H., of Warren, Ill.; Beeri A. and Mrs. Edna M. Shultz of Nora and Mrs. Rachel P. Gellenfeldt of Chelsea.
She also leaves six sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Hannah Clemmer, of Ponca, Okla.; Mrs. Edna Bowell, of Edgemont, S.D.; Mrs. Harriet Dawson of Brodhead, Wis.; Mrs. Rachel Leake of Monroe, Wis.; Miss Sarah Baird of Monroe, Wis.; Mrs. Mary Stewart of Juda, Wis.; Wm. Baird of Albany, Wis.; and Geo. Baird of Monroe, Wis., all of whom excepting the two first mentioned were present at the funeral.
The funeral service was held Jan. 25, at the Methodist Episcopal church in Lena, conducted by Rev. W.W. Clay, assisted by Rev. B.C. Holloway. Interment was made in the Lena cemetery.
Among those present at the funeral from away were: Hollis Bunker of Bristow, Iowa; Chas. Bunker and wife of Shullsburg, Wis.; Beeri Serviss of Warren; Mrs. John Wilson and daughter, Tena, of Warren; Clarence Stewart of Juda, Wis.; Geo. Dawson of Brodhead, Wis.; Andrew Youtzy and son, Ed. and Cummins Rayhorn of Winslow, Elmer Bunker and Hollis Russell of Kent."
