Mabel M. Meyer, 102, Holton, died May 30, 2000, at her home. She was born May 31, 1898. Mabel had the opportunity to live within three different centuries. She attended school in Arrington, KS. Out of eleven children, she was the third child to be born and the oldest daughter in the Jacob W. Eckert, Sr. family. She had to help her mother, Honora Ellen Cruise-Eckert, care for her younger siblings and help keep up the necessary housework. She married John Antone Meyer on May 25, 1918. She had three sons: Otis William Meyer, John R. Meyer, and Ivan Lee Meyer. She was a housewife and stay-at-home mother her whole life on a farm with her husband and children southwest of Holton, KS. She lived in Emmett, KS around 1972 for a short time. She was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, alter society at the church, and the Golden-Rod Club, all located in Holton, KS. Survivors include: a son, Ivan Meyer, of the home; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Burial will be at the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery.
