Girl, 15 killed in crash Saturday
A teen-ager was killed and three others hospitalized as a result of a one-car accident on Atlantic Avenue in Taylor Township Saturday morning.
Summer Brunswick, 15, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lawrence County Coroner. The crash occurred about 3:30 a.m., apx. 200 ft. south of Oakland Ave.
She was a passenger in a car driven by her brother, Robert F. Brunswick, 18. He is in serious condition in Presbyterian University Hospital, Pittsburgh, where he was transported by helicopter.
William George, 16, of New Castle is in critical condition in the trauma unit of Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was taken first to St. Francis Hospital, then transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. From there, he was airlifted to Pittsburgh.
Another passenger, Kelly Jean Cook, 15, of New Castle, is in stable condition in St. Francis.
State Police said Brunswick's northbound auto was traveling at a high speed when it left the road, went about 100 ft. on the west berm and hit a utility pole.The auto then spun and traveled about 20 ft. while flipping onto its roof.
Police said Summer Brunswick was partially ejected from the vehicle. Cook was able to free herself.
Robert Brunswick and George were trapped in the wreckage and had to be cut out with the Hurst Tool. The auto was destroyed.
[William George also died as a result of this accident. Robert has no memory of what happened. Kelly Cook escaped with only a broken arm.]Buggie was a dear friend of mine. We used to say we were sisters. She loved Tweety Bird. I miss her dearly.
