When Velma Mae Breeding married Fred Franklin Rodgers on July 3, 1929, she was not yet twenty years old. Together they raised four boys:

• Robert "Bobby" Lee (b. 1932; d. 1963)
• Floyd James (Sr.) (b. 1936; d. 2007)
• Donald "Donnie" Wayne (b. 1942; d. 1969)
Their only daughter, Doris Marie, was born July 26, 1933--died March 3, 1939--age 5 years, 7 months and 7 days.
When Fred died in 1967, Velma moved from Monahans to Breckenridge TX to care for her beloved, elderly uncle, George Cutbirth.
"Granny Rodgers" was first a beloved daughter and sister, aunt, mother. She was a wonderful grandmother and is deeply loved and missed.
