Patrick R. Halphen, 88, of La Plata, passed from this life on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011. He was born Dec. 8, 1922, in St. Martinville, La., to Ishmael and Carmen (Durand) Halphen. He was one of seven siblings.
Pat served in the Air Force during World War II.
Pat lived and worked in Durango, Colo., for more than 50 years. He owned and operated the Rainbow Bread franchise until his retirement in 1984.
Pat truly loved all his dear friends from Durango. In 2002, he moved to La Plata to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Pat was a lifelong member of the VFW Post and the Elks Lodge in Durango.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, several siblings and his wife, Rose (Brown) Halphen.
He is survived by three children and two stepchildren, Patricia Goncz, Rene Halphen, Tim Halphen, Marsha Savage and Sheila Hester; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 414 N. Allen Ave. in Farmington.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington.
Interment will follow the Mass, at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts should be made to Northwest New Mexico Hospice, 608 Reilly Ave., Farmington NM 87401.
