"L.D. Elliott was born at Cary, Ohio, August 26, 1872. He came to Wellington, Kansas in 1882, and in June 1886 moved to a farm two miles northwest of Kiowa, Kansas, where he resided until the opening of the Cherokee Strip, Sept. 16, 1893 when he took a claim near Alva, Oklahoma. In November 1901 he sold his Oklahoma claim and purchased a ranch seven miles northwest of Medicine Lodge, where he resided until his death, which occurred without a moments warning on March 17, 1922 near 12 o'clock noon, at the home of A. Shklar, a long time friend with whom he was visiting, in Kiowa. He was married to Iness M. Potes, June 4, 1893. To this union was born two sons, Roscoe of Harper, Kansas and A.T. who remains on the ranch."
