Enlisted at Raymond, ME, Sep. 29, 1862, at age 32 into Co. C, 25th Maine Infantry Regiment. Mustered out July 10, 1863. He re-enlisted Aug. 5, 1863, at age 33 into Co. F, 7th Maine Infantry Regiment. Transferred Aug. 21, 1864, into Co. F, 1st Maine Veteran Volunteer Infantry. Wounded at Fort Fisher, VA, and died of his wounds. Originally buried "Yard East of Patrick Station."
