Naphie Francis-Baca of Belen, NM passed away December 19, 1998 at the family home.

Naphie was an educator all her adult life having taught school in Seboyta, NM and after marrying the late Eddie A. Baca in the 1920's taught in the Belen School System retiring with over 35 years of service. She loved teaching and inspired students with her enthusiasm and innovative methods of sparking their thirst for knowledge. Naphie was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, past Grand Regent of The Catholic Daughters of America and active in civic affairs throughout her life.

She is survived by daughters, Joan M. White and Dorothy Francis both of Albuquerque; and sons, Francis A. Baca and wife, Felis of Mountainair and Eddie Francis-Baca II of Meadow Lake; also of the family home in Belen, her daughter, Mary Kay Abeyta, granddaughter, Cynthia M. Jaramillo and husband, Eric, and great-granddaughters, Ashley and Alyssa Jaramillo; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, E. Lee Francis of Albuquerque and Narciso Francis, Jr. of California; two sisters, Ada Thomason and Isabelle Canzoneri of Albuquerque.

A Rosary will be recited December 21, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Eric Jaramillo, Daniel Benevidez, Henry Byrd, Roy Nunez, Frank Ortega and Gilbert Lovato. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on December 22, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church follow by Interment at the Catholic Cemetery.
