Wife of the late Rev. Pierce Embree Cook Jr.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Cleveland and Ruth
Naomi Williams.
Joellen was an educator with more than 30 years experience, writer, freestyle pianist, and philanthropist.
She was certified in elementary and advanced secondary with a Masters Degree from Winthrop University and an undergraduate degree from Charleston Southern University (formerly Baptist College at Charleston). She was active in fundraising and volunteering, Joellen was involved with a variety of community and faith based organizations.
Joellen was a seasoned storyteller and the author of Sardines, Cheese and Soda Crackers: Reflections From a Country Girl, and was working on a second book.
She wrote a blog for The State newspaper in Columbia, SC called "Living With a Country Girl." Her website - www.reflectionsfromacountrygirl.com - features reflections of inspiration and encouragement.
She was survived by her son, Pierce Embree Cook, III, her sister, Vicki Clement of Greenville, and her brother, Jeff Williams of Charleston.
