He was born on May 5, 1918, and was a son of the late John and Sarah Merica.
Mr. Merica lived his entire life in the Shenandoah-Page County area.
He was employed with Nielsen Construction until his retirement and attended Grove Hill Methodist Church.
In 1941, he married Mabel Merica, who died in 1991.
He is survived by a sister Lillian Lam of Elkton; six grandchildren, several nieces, one of whom was his caregiver; and numerous nephews.
A graveside service was conducted on Wednesday, June 18, at the George Comer Cemetery.
