Walter O. Spindler

Walter O. Spindler, 79, of 3128 N.9th Street, died Tuesday, April 11, 1989, at Sunny Ridge, where he has been a resident for the past seven months.

Mr. Spindler was born June 8, 1909 in the Town of Herman to the late Jacob and Alma Voss Spindler. He attended district school at Ada and grauduated from the Kiel High School in 1928. Walter attended Lawrence College for one year and received a degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Mr. Spindler started his banking career at the Howards Grove State Bank in 1932. IN 1936 he became an employee of the North Side State Bank in Sheboygan. In 1947 he was transferred to the Citizens State Bank downtown. He continued employment with the merged banks and retired from the Citizens Bank of Sheboygan in 1971.

On May 18, 1935 he married Miss Florence Meyer, of Town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, at Zion Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, rural Kiel. Walter was a member on Zion United Church of Christ, where he served as an officer and former treasurer. He was a member and former treasurer of the Brotherhood of Zion Church and a former member of the Lakeshore Kiwanis Club.

Survivors are his wife, Florence; one son Daniel W. (Mary) Spindler, of Park Ridge, IL; three grandchildren, Thomas, James and Kathryn; one sister, Mrs. Edna (Henry) Bramstedt, of Erdman. Preceding him in death was one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Friday, at 2 p.m. at Zion United Chruch of Christ. The Rev. Dr. Walter K. Mohr will officiate. The burial will be at Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapel from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday, and at 11 a.m. on Friday, and at the church from noon to the time of services.

He and his wife Florence, his sister Edna and her husband Henry Bramstedt, and his parents-in-law Wiliam G Meyer and Helena Meyer all share one burial plot.


Grand daughter Christine C Spindler, daughter of son Danial, is buried in the family plot.
