From Westmoreland County, Virginia, the Cavenders moved to Spartanburg District, South Carolina and then to Pendleton District. Prior to 1820, Clemeth Cavender, William's dad walked to Northeast Georgia, selected a home-site in the Cherokee Nation, and returned to South Carolina to bring his family to Georgia. William was the son of Clemeth Cavender and Rebecca Dedman Cavender originally from Westmorland County, Virginia. William moved on into Union County in the Gaddistown Section across Parker Rd from this the Cavender (South) Cemetery. Two of William and Lucetia's grand sons George Washington b. 1856 (My grandfather) and William Young Cavender b. 1855 are buried in Cavender (North) Cemetery which is about a quarter mile up the road.
