Firmin "Fred" Frederick Lutter, 83, went home to our heavenly Father on Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls. He was surrounded by beloved family, Kerry, Janet and Tristan Lutter, Sioux Falls, Brandi Neumayr, Colman, and Suzie Johnson, Sioux Falls, along with the caring staff of the VA Hospital. Fred was born to Barbara and Wenzeslaus Lutter in Todd County, SD on April 5, 1926. He served in the Army in World War II, where he met the love of his life, Josephine of Germany. They were united in holy matrimony on June 24, 1947. They farmed in Todd County for a number of years before relocating to Sioux Falls. Fred established and operated Lutter Insurance Agency until his retirement. Fred is survived by one brother: Jim (Margaret), Valentine, NE; multiple generations of nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Josephine, parents, brothers: Bernard (Clara), Gann Valley, SD, Albert (Eva), Bremerton, WA and Raymond (June) of Valentine, NE. Visitation will be Monday, 6 PM at Christ the King Church with a Scripture Vigil at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 10 AM at Christ the King Church with burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery with Full Military Rites by VFW Post #628.
