Adelia Dockter, 87, Hosmer, SD, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Hosmer Senior Citizens Home.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, August 1, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hosmer, with Pastor Patrick Hahn leading the service. Burial follows at Bethany Cemetery, Hosmer. Organist will be Wesley Schaible and the congregation will sing "Just as I am, without one Plea", "Amazing Grace, how sweet the Sound", and "What a friend we have in Jesus". Ushers will be James and Marcella Mohr.

Funeral Home visitation will be from 9:00 AM-9:00 PM Sunday and resumes 9:30 AM Monday at the Church.

Adelia Esther Borkirchert, daughter of Magdalina (Burrer) and Jacob Borkirchert, was born October 2, 1923 northwest of Roscoe, SD, the youngest of six children. She attended rural school through 8th grade. When her father died, Adelia and her mother moved to Hosmer and Adelia was employed at the Koerner Drug Store for six years. Adelia married Elmer Dockter at the Hosmer Reformed Church on October 9, 1949. They settled on Elmer's family farm five miles east of Hillsview, SD, Cleveland Township in McPherson County. This is where they lived and farmed until November 5, 1985 when they moved into Hosmer. Adelia lived the rest of her life in Hosmer and since February 2007 had lived at the Senior Citizens Home. She was a member St. John's Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, and baking German food.

Adelia is survived by her son Dale (Katherine) Dockter of Eureka, SD; and two grandsons—Ryman Dockter of Watertown, SD and Byron Dockter of Eureka.

She was preceded in death by her father on October 14, 1934, her mother on August 4, 1949, her husband on December 1, 1999, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Honorary bearers will be the Hosmer Senior Citizens Home staff.

Casketbearers will be Arlyn Wiepking of Omaha, NE, Milton Mohr, Milton Herrboldt, Dean Schumacher, and John Neifer of Hosmer, and Leven Rieger of Eureka.
