Mrs. J.L. Lowe, 83, of 3002 S. 11th, Abilene resident for almost 40 years, died at her home at 1:55 a.m. Friday. She suffered a stroke June 16, 1961, and had been in ill health since.
Born Mary Etta Newberry April 6, 1879, in Parker County, she married J.L. Lowe in Parker County, December 26, 1901. The couple moved to Oklahoma, later returning to Texas where they settled in Gregg County. They moved to Abilene from Tulia in 1923.
Mr. Lowe died Sept. 10, 1956.
Mrs. Lowe was a member of Caps Methodist Church.
Funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel of Memories. Officiating minister will be announced later.
Burial will be at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs J.T. Landers of 3002 S. 11th, and Mrs W.B. Richards of View; one foster son, W.T. Lowe of Farmington, N.M., a sister, Mrs. Pearl Thomas of El Paso, and three brothers, Jess and Will of El Paso, and Neut of Mineral Wells.
